#6 / 2020 – Benchmark your parks against the TruePower Portfolio 

To help our customers better understand how their assets perform we expanded the benchmarking module

New Performance Benchmark Rating against Peers:

  • compare your solar and wind parks against your peers at one glance

  • use our easy to understand comparison based on a scale from AAA (best) to C (worst)

  • analyze in which areas your parks over or underperform using a detailed performance matric

  • see how your rating has evolved over time


To see how the performance has evolved over time, the rating on a portfolio and park level is calculated on a yearly basis.
The performance of a park is compared on a matric of 6 parameters to its peers:

  • Production Efficiency: Energy produced vs. Energy expected

  • Efficiency Distribution: 1. Quartile of Production Efficiency over all turbines

  • Optimisation Potential: Optimisable Energy Yield due to respective actions

  • Energetic Availability: Production during Good Wind Hours (between cut-in and cut-out)

  • Unplanned Maintenance: Downtime due to Planned Maintenance vs. Energy produced

  • Technical Losses: Downtime due to Technical Losses vs. Energy Produced

To have a fair comparison against your peers, only parks with a complete error code analysis are considered.

#5 / 2020 – Dynamic Benchmarks and Smart Recommendations

Our development team has been working hard on full-filling customer’s requests

Dynamic Period Benchmark:
Do you want to be able to easily compare the performance of your wind farm or individual turbines across different years, quarters or months?

Our Dynamic Period Benchmark gives you complete flexibility to achieve such a normalised comparison, from comparing different KPIs, through to more detailed analysis of performance (e.g. power curve) and control (e.g. yaw and pitch) comparisons.

Advancement of Technical Recommendation Capabilities:

  • Can you quantify the revenue impact of individual failures or maintenance outages quickly to help you prioritise your attention?

  • Are you aware of repeatedly occurring, but small, technical failures that are impacting your production in the mid- to long-term?

Our platform detects such anomalies and highlights these for you in our Technical Recommendations view, helping you to act quickly and with greater impact on performance. Small failures with a limited duration are generally overseen by operators and non-intelligent other systems.


However, if it occurs on a regular basis and if it has a relevant impact on the production losses, the smart anomaly detection system by WinJi informs you automatically about such failures. On the other hand, the wealth of information is generally overwhelming, therefore, our smart anomaly detection system really directs you to the relevant issues.

#3 / 2020 – New Wind Farm Rating

Our development team has been working hard also during the covid-19 lockdown on implementing a wind farm rating system.

The rating is based on technical parameters and KPIs such as: 

  • production efficiency

  • efficiency distribution

  • optimisation potential

  • energetic availability

  • unplanned maintenance

  • technical losses


As a result, you get a rating between AAA and C for your wind farm depending on the evaluated results on an annual basis.

To have a fair comparison across all parks in the WinJi portfolio, only parks with a complete error code analysis are considered.

#2 / 2020 – AI Pitching Optimisation

Our development team has been working hard on improving the AI pitching module.

The AI module to optimise the pitching behaviour of wind turbines is already available. The module allows to improve turbine performance by 1-2% typically. Whether it is available for a specific park depends on the time resolution of the available data feed.

#1 / 2020 – New Navigator Design

We structured the menu on the left to allow for an even more intuitive navigation of analyses and reports. 

As a TruePower Platform user, you should have a great experience when navigating through the numerous benchmarks, analyses, reports and actions that are available.  As the platform has expanded in functionality and will further grow with new functions and features, we felt that the beginning of a new year was a perfect opportunity to update the left menu navigator to provide you with:

  1. clearer structure, 

  2. better user guidance, and

  3. improved orientation.

After choosing a park, you can find now the following new sections: 

  • Cockpit: overviews, maps etc.

  • Performance: performance indicators, current status etc.

  • Health Check: technical trends, component correlations, anomaly detection etc.

  • Availability & Loss analysis: categories, statistics, time axis, etc. 

  • Benchmark: KPIs and comparisons

  • Actions: for performance improvements and maintenance

  • Forecast & Predictions: power forecast, etc.

  • Reports: production, etc.

  • Documentation: details of your park

The WinJi development team has been working hard before the holiday season. With the new features, you can find answers to the following questions:

2. Wind Speed Validation

You can find the new feature to validate wind speed measurements under the "Condition Monitoring" menu after choosing a park.

It is a very important feature since a lot of analyses are based on wind speed.

Technical details

The anemometer measurement is evaluated at 4 different fixed operating positions at: 

  • given blade angle in wind region 2,  and

  • rotorspeed

If at least 3 operating positions measure too low or too high wind speeds, we recommend to check the sensor regarding calibration issues.

3. Turbine Efficiency Distribution and Outliers

Use the new graphical view by choosing a park and navigating to "overview"  under the "benchmark" menu. Toggle between table and graphical view with the arrow on the top right corner. 

The efficiency distribution per turbine is evaluated over the past months.

Our goal last month was to enable you to answer the following questions using the TruePower platform.

 How can I …

  1. …find out more detailed information if I see a red traffic light in either the portfolio or park overview?

  2. …get downtime analysis at a deeper level than the existing categories?

  3. …compare the power curve of a specific turbine to a benchmark power curve of the same turbine type?

  4. …see the optimisation potential of our parks?

  5. …see the energetic availability per park?

New features and optimisations allow you to answer these questions:

  1. Click on the arrow above the traffic lights to jump to the corresponding graphs.

  2. In the downtime analysis, switch between a category, subcategory and errorcode view by clicking on the arrow in the top right corner.

  3. Check out the new view comparing the power curves of: a) the turbines of your park, b) the OEM and c) other turbines of the same type in the WinJi platform

  4. Columns showing the optimisation potential (in MWh and %) are added to the park as well as portfolio benchmark views. Both the optimisation potential and the difference between expected and real energy production are now shown in the header.

  5. On the Portfolio level, you can now find an overview graph on the energetic availability of your parks.

Our goal last month was to enable you to answer the following questions using the TruePower platform.

  1. How can I identify the most important issues at a glance in our portfolio?

  2. How can I optimise my existing turbines to improve my revenues?

  3. How many losses do I have per turbine and park, why and when?

  4. What are the main anomalies in the machine behaviour for predictive maintenance and to avoid future problems?

  5. Which OEM provided you with the best turbines? In which country are they working best?

New features allow you to answer these questions:

  1. Survey the new Traffic Light view on the portfolio level and use the colour code to get insight on Operation Status at a glance, Energy Efficiency (over 7 and 30 days) and Energetic Availability of your portfolio. 

  2. Get the AI-based Yaw Optimisation module from WinJi. It provides you with an optimal setpoint for each individual turbine across 12 wind sectors.

  3. Use the “Loss Drivers” menu to quantify your losses based on WinJi's downtime categories presented in gross and net view. The remaining control logic losses provide insights on the optimisation potential through yaw and pitch control. Use the “Condition Monitoring” menu to check machine parameters over time and compare your turbines at the same working conditions. 

  4. Use our optimised trend view to see power or rotor speed at a fixed air density and wind speed over time in order to correlate technical parameters to drops in performance. 

  5. Use the OEM and Country benchmark to find the over- or underperforming turbines and parks in your portfolio with ease.
